Bookkng AA Flight with a Leg on Aegean Airlines Included

Howdy folks,

Next year, we will be flying DFW-ATH outbound and JTR-DFW inbound.

From reading a few posts on the site, in general, it is best to book it all on one PNR/Ticket, which is possible on AA.com.

The DFW-ORD-ATH Legs will be in Business (I Class).

The Return is where I have questions and value your input, as I have a couple of options.

Option #1: Book all on one ticket: JTR-ATH-CLT-DFW with:
JTR-ATH ('Z' Class) - Known as their business product,
ATH-CLT-DFW (I Class) on AA Metal.

Option #2: Book JTR-ATH early in the morning on Aegean, reclaim bags in Athens and then go re-checkin with AA for a separately purchased AA flights (ATH-CLT-DFW).

I would prefer Option #1 so that we can check all our baggage in at Santorini and not see it again until we get to Charlotte. Price isn't a concern. My 'concern' is baggage allowance if we are starting our journey on Aegean, but it's booked via AA.

To recap:
My wife is Executive Platinum.
the Aegean leg (~45 minutes) would be in 'Z' Class.

Will they allow the 2 or 3 bags per person since the journey starts with them? We will have a lot heavy, checked baggage for our trips -- that's just how we roll, unfortunately.

When booking, I'd prefer to keep everything on one ticket/PNR, but if you can convince me otherwise, I'd be willing to book a roundt trip from DFW-ATH on AA, then purchase a separate one-way ticket on Aegean from JTR-ATH. I get concerned though about something going wrong and being on separate tickets. Really, what I want to know, is that we'll have adequate checked baggage allowances starting on Aegean if I purchase it all as one ticket via AA.com.

Thank you for your feedback.
