Hello, my family and my partner are travelling to Japan in November. My partner is a Saudi national who lives in the UK with me on a spouse visa.

On the list of documents required is an itinerary which we have provided for the 17 day duration of our trip (Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto and Osaka).

We have the flight itinerary including the outbound and inbound flight with all of our names including my partners, they also have 3 months worth of bank statements and a letter of employment from their employer as well as the passport photos.

Is a cover letter a necessity for a tourist visa application? There is nothing complex about my partners application, but is it advisable to have a cover letter?
