24. SGN-BKK Economy (W) TG551

I felt I was cutting it a bit short getting to the airport for this return flight to Bangkok, but Ho Chi Minh (SGN) airport is so well organised that there ended up being plenty of time to get through immigration and security. Boarding was again a comfortable process and I found myself in a window seat fairly far forward in the economy class cabin. This time the middle seat was left free, perhaps due to my Miles & More silver status, although the flight wasn't fully booked.

The quality of service for this flight, with 1h25 block time, amazed me. A hot meal service was provided, with the tray including a dish of prawns on rice with a small dessert. A limited choice of drinks were available from the onboard trolley, but Singha beer from Thailand was available. By comparison, Lufthansa is a disgrace of an airline with its nonexistent service and imitation Ryanair pay on board menu. Thai Airways staff also seem to be able to deliver their service with a smile. It was a clear day as we flew over Cambodia and landed on time at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport.

The seating on this former Thai Smile aircraft was somewhat soiled
