Reviving this thread with a request for updated recommendations. I'm using a delightfully heavy hardback leather briefcase my dad bought back in the mid-1980s for a small fortune. No idea of the brand name but the spring in one of the spring-loaded latches finally failed last year - it still locks up fine - and I'm debating between paying for a fix or retiring this otherwise bulletproof stealth weapon.

I'm looking for something in leather and open to both traditional briefcases and messenger-style bags.
