This is not my experience. Where the extra points have been awarded automatically (ie without me having to chase them), they have always been dated the same as the start of the outbound journey. This definitely happened earlier this month when I travelled out on 6 September and returned on 11th, with 8 September year end. So I had 120 TP dated 6/9 and 40 dated 11/9.
