From my perspective (and I believe Hyatt’s when LT was designed) it’s primarily for those who traveled for years for business and as they’re getting along in age not traveling as much, but it’s an incentive for their many years of loyalty. I believe this because you’re basically getting all the regular benefits/milestones of 60 night Globalist status, without needing to stay all those nights.
That’s just my take on it. Of course a lot has changed since it was first designed, and now in the World of Hyatt, I just believe that was it’s original intent and Hyatt stuck with it.
Loyalty programs have a habit of changing and promised benefits diluted.
But 1 free 1-7 night per year + 4 free SUAs per year is a very nice way of actually recognising many years of loyalty. Other chains just pay lip service to "lifetime of loyalty" with no real benefits other than not having to put in the nights every year...
