Dropping a data point from a recent 3 night stay. Room rates in the city were relativey high accross the board and this location was chosen primairly due to price (~$375USD a night after taxes). Booked a "Delux Double" and recieved room 308. My partner is a light sleeper and in the notes i asked for a quiet room which was acknowledged at checkin.
Good:
- As a gold member I found the breakfast to be great with enough choice to get me going. Note- no varity from day-to-day.
- For being an old building it was nicely built/furnished.
- Location. Im not the most savvy london traveler but liked the location. Close to 2 underground stops with easy service to LHR. LOTS of choice for food within 2-3 blocks.
- The larger rooms all seem to face the main street which was initially a concern but this was unfounded and we didnt notice any traffic noise at night.
Lame:
- I am a business traveler and have had my share of hard beds. I actually like firm (candlewood suites comes to mind). This one takes the cake. Like a rock
- Flat AF feather pillows and not very large (standard size?)
- Couldnt get the A/C to cool the room down despite it raining most of our stay. Left windows open to try and air out. No sheet on bed so it was either blanket or nothing. Hot and sweaty nights.
- Went down to check out the gym (just exploring the property), it was noticably "mustier" (wet) smelling down there. It had been raining during our stay. If the room smelled like that I would have walked out.
Final Thoughts:
- Would i stay here again? Yes. If it wasnt on the tail end of a 2 week trip i might have asked about the A/C and for a few extra pillows but all and all it was fine. I really liked the neighborhood feel.
- Would i use points here? Well i had em and didnt....but if i needed to....sure.
