I try buying a separate seat online but whenever I choose the option for passengers I pick 2 adults and kid under 2 all airlines automatically assume its a bassinet seat or lap and there is no further option to even get a separate seat for it. And I can't use the option for kids above 2 because when if I do and further ahead when I need to fill passenger details it does now allow me to enter my baby birth year and as it's not reflective of the age. And this applies universally to all airlines I have looked at. Maybe this needs to be done over a phone.?
