I cancelled an AA flight booked using $300 Cap1 credit. I was issued a flight credit, however this flight credit cannot be used online on AA.com and can only be used by calling Cap1, which every time resulted in pricing tickets much higher than AA website. Is there any way to use this flight credit directly with AA? Like by calling AA or even by paying a reservation takeover fee to AA or any other way or trick that? Anybody has any experience resolving this?
Hmm, not sure how you cancelled your flight.
But I cancelled/rebooked my flight that was originally booked on Capital one directly on AA.com and I am able to use the remaining credit. (AA sent a trip credit code)
However the AA credit has a lot of restrictions, it cannot be used with any non-AA flights even if booking directly on aa.com. That includes code-share flights with AA flight number but operated by for example Japan airlines.
If you have a code from AA you should be able to use it on AA.com with the above restrictions.
From my experience though when I booked in early this year the prices at Capital One travel were very similar to AA.com, only very small differences. But I'm not sure if they have changed.
