Delta has the option of taking either the 319 tonne or 322 tonne MTOW versions of the A35K, with the latter having just a little more range than the former. The project sunrise version of the A35K QF ordered has a MTOW of 319 tonnes. So when I read "further into the Pacific", I gather that Delta is seriously considering a route like LAX-SIN with this aircraft. The size/range/cargo combination makes it more viable than the 283 tonne MTOW A359. Delta probably has looked at SEA-SIN very closely but determined that since SQ already flies it, given the size of the local market, it would be difficult. LAX is the biggest US market for SIN and it's not that close either. UA could not make it work because they had to block off too many seats.... in the summer time, forget the winter.
