I'm relatively new to forums and would welcome any help and advice on a Missing Tier Points (TP's) issues I have had now for almost 2 months. I have tried numerous routes within BA, BA Holidays and BA Exec Club to resolve this, without any success.
My wife and I travelled to the Maldives via Doha on 2nd August on BA0123 in Club World. The flight was 90 minutes late departing, which meant that we missed our connection on BA2356 (Qatar codeshare). We were then put onto QR670. Our return flights were all BA flight numbers, but the airline was Qatar. I booked this trip specifically via Doha to get double the TP's rather than flying direct. The total TP's quoted were 560, which is 4 x 140. As this was a BA Holidays promotion,, the total TP's would then be doubled, giving me 1,120 TP's. The trip duration was 11 nights. My TP balance prior to the trip was zero.
Upon returning, I was credited with 420 TP's, which having reviewed the details, equated to 140 TP's per flight, but did not include the connection onto QR670. It's clear that BA Exec Club did not include this, as they wouldn't normally award TP's and Avios for a non-BA flight code. I contacted BA Exec Club on several occasions and on each, I received differing advice. Firstly, I was advised that this was a BA Holidays issue and I should contact a number (supplied by BA Exec), which turned out to be their emergency out of hours contact number. This route proved fruitless, so I contacted Exec Club again and the agent apparently documented by claim and stated that I would receive a response in seven working days.
I did receive a response apologising for the incorrect award being posted, but they only then credited me with the missing Avios for the QR670 flight, but no additional TP's. They did state that the Double Tier Points issue was being investigated and would be corrected as soon as possible....
This week, I received a further email from the same person at BA Exec Club, informing me:
"Due to the limitations of the awarding process, when the outbound flights are completed in the previous collection year, the Double Tier Points are added straight to the Lifetime Tier Points balance. This will appear as an award of 0 on your statement.
Unfortunately, due to a technical issue on 23 August, your Double Tier Points award was credited as 184 bonus Tier Points. This is being investigated by the team in charge of the awarding process.
I'm afraid we're unable to adjust the award while the investigation is taking place, and I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused by this."My BA Exec Club year did renew on 8th August. I have scanned through various terms and conditions around the BA Tier Points and also the Double Tier Points, but have not been able to locate any wording which states that Double TP's awarded would be added to my previous year as Lifetime TP's. As this year is a shortened year due to the realignment of all all members, there does not appear to be any wording which states that only standard TP's are carried forward into the shortened year and not the Double TP's. I'm also unable to locate any terms which state that the Double TP's are awarded to the outbound flight date only.
My current TP balance is now showing as 744 TP's, which is up from the previous 420. The difference is 324 TP's which is showing as 'Tier Point Collection Year Change'. I'm not sure about my Lifetime TP's, as I never really look at them, as I'm unlikely to ever get to the 35,000 target.
Is anyone able to offer me any advice on where I stand with regards the Double TP's, I would really appreciate it. As this TP collection year has been shortened, BA Exec Club have agreed to adjust my balance by adding any TP's collected between 1st April 24 and 8th August 24, which does of course include the TP's I earned from my flights on 2nd Aug. Surely this would also include the Double TP's, which have still not been awarded? Any links to T's & C's would be very welcome. Whilst I do now have Silver status again, my aim is to get to gold this year and it would be much easier if I had 1,120 TP's rather than 744, which is incorrect anyway.
Many thanks,
Julian
So first thing is read the FAQ in this thread, it gives information which might help you understand the process.
You’ve said you booked on BA flight numbers a trip to the Maldives and back via Doha in J and travelled out 2/8/24 and back 11 days later so lets assume 13/8/24. Also lets assume both outbound flights departed 2/8/24 and both inbound 13/8/24. Your year end was 8/8/24. If any of this is wrong please correct
So regardless of the misconnects you should get the TPs as per the original booking.
This will be (assuming the dates above are correct) 560 TP’s with a transaction date of 2/8/24 and 560 TPs with a transaction date of 13/8/24. This will be for both of you so you might want to ask your wife what has posted in her account.
BA are correct on the Double TPs with transaction dates of previous years going onto life time balance and not appearing in the current year. You can check that they have appeared by using the spreadsheet you will have kept to monitor your TPs and lifetime TPs. If you have lost the spreadsheet this can easily be reconstructed by looking at all the emails from BA exec club over the years. Each one contains both your current TP balance and your lifetime TP balance as of the date of the email.
So in your case 560 of the TP (from your flights on 2/8/24) should be in your year that ended 8/8/24.
Then the 560 TP from the flights on 13/8/24 should be in your shortened year running from 9/8/24 to 31/3/25
And on or around 20/8/24 you should have received a TP adjustment equal to the total number of TPs you earnt from 1/4/24 to 8/8/24 which will of course include the 560TP you earnt from your flights on 2/8/24. You might get another adjustment on or around 20/9/24 to include flights that had not yet posted at the time of the first adjustment
Whether the TPs described above are enough to get you to gold etc only you can tell.
If the TPs have not posted as described above then you should chase until they do
Hope that helps
