This is a Marriott it issue and one reason I stopped staying with Marriott. Very often the app said I had to book a suite etc if I wanted my then minor kid to stay with us. I had to call (no emails) properties to see if I could have a kid stay. Rc Riyahd. No problem. LC Ajman. No problem.
They all said yes until one luxury collection on Christmas Eve in Israel where they forbid my kid. I've written about what happened before. I've barely stayed at a Marriott sindr then because of how customer service dealt w the issue.
So you can't just pop up I've learned as some, not all, properties will say no. Normally it's fine but when they say no, ot can be a real problem.
