It seems that AF23 is always operated on the 77W with P. So that means the old, fixed-shell PE seats that do not recline.......and unfortunately are quite terrible for sleeping (worse than Y). I'm sorry but if you don't sleep well on planes you definitely aren't going to be sleeping on these seats.
We flew these controversial fixed shell PE seats from BKK to CDG last year and didn’t find them a problem but we didn’t particularly try to sleep in them as we departed just before midday local time. I had a couple of short naps but I mastered how to ‘recline’ the chair quite well and just watched back to back movies and tv shows to help pass the time quickly. I avoided bulkhead on that occasion specifically to get leg/foot rests and they definitely helped with comfort. The PE catering on the other hand was absolutely abysmal.

The strategy of staying awake did of course not help with jet lag or the following connection to EDI which was a real struggle!
