The issue I have with the priority lane at the initial entrance is that if the staff see its slow, they funnel general pax into the line for the passport/facial scanners and you end up waiting behind everyone anyway. It again splits at security-but once again-ive walked up to find they funneled everyone over from other lines anyway and I end up waiting behind them. Ironically its one of the few times you WANT a few people in a que as that will prevent the staff from doing this.
Yes, that's exactly my issue with this. The bank of passport gates closest to where the Priority Lane opens into the main hall should be exclusively for Priority Lane passengers, and once through those gates they should be headed straight into dedicated security lanes for 'priority' passengers. The flow of it all is just a bit messy.
Actually I'd love to see SYD introduce a 'SYD frequent flyer' program where frequent travellers could register and get access to the Priority Lane if the whole system was cleaned up to be more seamless, although no doubt we'd be charged for it...
