yep. I was once told by a Hertz manager that their policy was to inflate the tires to the maximum rating for the tire not the car's listed recommendation on the doors. As they can't predict how much load the customer will put in the car, they opt for the tire rating. this is why I carry around a tire gauge now so I can check the tires and often let air out for what the car wants.
