BAEC helpline rebooked me for a QR flight with an overall arrival delay of 25hrs. BAEC agent said the reason for flight being closed was "congestion at airport affecting operator" or something.

So trying to get some information together before submitting a UK261 claim. May or may not be accepted, but just gathering information beforehand.
My timeline
23-JUL Original travel date, denied boarding. Re-routed on QR and arrived at ISB 25 hours later.
13-AUG Submitted claim for arrival delay and expenses
18-AUG Email received, Expenses paid but compensation denied (Note: We did not even get to board BA0261). Your claim for compensation has been refused because BA0261 on 23 July was delayed due to Air Traffic Control restrictions. The delay was out of our control and caused unforeseen disruption to our schedule.
22-AUG Replied with a follow-up to spell out the details on the denied boarding case again
23-SEP BA called to confirm they will pay out compensation £520pp
25-SEP Correct compensation amount received
