I use it quite often on domestic AA/AS flights. During the QF flights it does get busy but I don't think there has ever been a wait for me dining wise. I was told that the "reserved" dining spots were for QF emeralds, not sure if it was just platinums or platinum ones only.
i was also confidentially told that now personnel are unionized and there are significant new payoffs (insurance, sick days etc) that QF will have to shoulder come this October. Perhaps just unfounded rumors.
