Thanks...I booked a FRA-ZRH-LAX flight for 80K plus $150 taxes. Now I have to see if I can get a "throne seat" on check in without paying an additional $240! I guess I can also see if a Lufthansa business class seat opens up too...I'm a little flexible as I'll be staying with family.

I also have a AA FRA-DFW-LAX for 27K AA points and $150 taxes. I can upgrade to MC Extra which makes it much more tolerable using my Amex annual $200 credit (which I rarely use), or I can use 47K points for Economy Plus.
