You may have read my original post, but the B787-8 fleet is under particular pressure with 42% of the fleet on the ground for various reasons, so the B787-9 is covering some routes and others are being axed to ease the pressure.

Interesting to note that BA095 LHR-YUL today (Sept 25), which is normally a 787-8, is delayed by 2 hrs with a 787-X instead. This flight is often delayed (especially when I am booked to fly on it -

and with a very quick turnaround at YUL, the return is more often that not delayed as well.
I wonder if the replacement today of the scheduled aircraft (G-ZBJK) with G-ZBLF is due to 787-8 shortages. Interestingly G-ZBLF appears to have been at LHR all day, having arrived from EWR early this morning.
As I fly YUL-LHR regularly I watch the daily flights like a hawk, hoping to divine delay and cancellation patterns
