I can't believe Hertz [missed the mark] this hard on EVs
So for context, I live car-free in DC and occasionally rent from Hertz as I get PC from a credit card I have. Last summer I rented a Volvo XC30. It was great, picked up with like an 80% change and returned with 30 and was only charged the $25.
Fast forward to last week going to a friend's wedding. Flew into BDL, and had a reservation for a med sedan. Checked out the PC lane and it was barren except for a Polestar 2 with a few scratches. Charge was at 100%, plenty of range for my drive to and from the hotel. I still thought the $25 for Gold members was the policy, so I figured why should I bother charging? Returned the car with 53% and was charged $51.69 for the EVSC at a rate of what appeared to be $1.41 per %. (I thought it was Kw/H) Looked up the new policy and chocked it up to paying the dummy tax for not looking it up again.
But, Hertz still advertises the $25/$35 policy on their website.
Just put in a support ticket looking for a refund of the difference, but not hopeful.
After this experience I don't think I will ever rent an EV from Hertz again. Does anyone know how much the EVPO is? or does it very location to location? Is it even legal to not disclose charging fee rates prior to the return?
