CI PE seats on the A350 were actually the best PE configuration of any airline. 2-3-2 layout and seats are 20 inches wide, whereas most airlines (CX, SQ) have a 2-4-2 layout.
I just noticed the CI is rolling out new A350s with new J seats, and unfortunately the PE and Y configurations are now more cramped - this currently applies to their Rome and Singapore flights. PE is now in the more standard 2-4-2 configuration, seat pitch reduced from 39" to 38", and seat width from 20" to 18.8".
These are all marginal changes and PE is still more comfortable than Y, but I would probably be more inclined to choose another airline if I was paying cash for PE.
