I am speaking about long haul intercontinental flights, that should be obvious by me literally stating NINE+ hours above. The problem is 810, that the majority of people speaking like you, which tends to be maybe 1 person per cabin, inevitably nod off 3 hours into the flight with their shades open, and disturb the hell out of everyone else. One of the only things I like about the newest generation of aircraft like the the 787 is that these people can be stopped. You have repeatedly ignored the fact that it is NOT about people "sleeping" it is the fact that "your" open shade, especially if it is NOT the one near your head, has little effect on you, but can make it impossible for multiple other people to enjoy their IFE, as the sunlight is directly on THEM. I suppose the answer forthcoming will be "Those effected should watch on their own device", or some other such answer. Regarding repeatedly saying "daytime flights" what exactly does that mean? It is NOT natural to experience days of 24+ hours of sunlight, I do not live at the North Pole in the winter, If I am on a transoceanic flight from Istanbul to LA in the summer the flight time is normally something like 8AM, which would mean that I was up since sunrise which would probably be 5:15AM or so, so three hours of daylight until the flight FOURTEEN HOURS OF DAYLIGHT on the plane if you are in charge, land by noon, and then ANOTHER 9 hours or so of daylight, in LA. so 26+ hours of sunlight? How ridiculous.
