And the staff were lovely; maybe only second to GLA in that regard, albeit just in my experience. I much prefer LHR as an airport, but once you’re in the LGW one it’s very much a pleasant sanctuary. Would gladly make use of again.

That's roughly my view too, though I also rate Gatwick security much higher than LHR. Overall LGW isn't a nice airport but the lounge + security are the redeeming features.
