I'm pretty sure I've read recently that you CAN book a room in someone else's name and get the points yourself even if you're not there. I did it recently for my mom, who traveled with us and wanted her own room - the fact I was there when she checked in didn't seem relevant. Her room was in her name and that's all that mattered. I got the points.

Is it still the case that AA Hotels is not suitable for prepaying a stay and not being there to check in - ie. paying for a hotel stay for a third party. This was historically OK with Rocket MIles, but I think that AA Hotels does not offer this option and Im not sure calling the hotel after booking/prepayment is going to work.
Thoughts...?
Thanks,
