We left the hotel after a less than stellar breakfast with a destination of Windsor, UK. Our goal for the day was to go and visit Windsor castle and tour around the town a bit. Only on the drive down did we discover that well, that was not really possible. You had to book in advance and the day was completely full.

So, we modified the plan a bit and decided to stop in a few towns on the drive down. First stop was St Albans to hit up a book store my wife and daughter wanted to see.

We then skipped a few towns over to grab some lunch and do some sight seeing and stop in an antique store.

Another beautiful Church

Just an all around beautiful city

My daugher loved the balcony

Found this nice little pub for a lunch stop.

The corn exchange and views to the church in its courtyard

Another couple of drinks

I went with the steak and ale pie with mash and gravy. It was just ok. Not great but not horrible either.

My wife got a Pita meal. It was really good. She ate most of it and I ate what was left.

Our accommodations for the night was the Prince Albert on the outskirts of Windsor. Not really much to say about this place. No AC and right on a main road. It did the job for a night but that is about all I can say. Cant really reccomend it and I wish we had spent a bit more to stay in a nicer place closer to town.

Once we checked in my daughter had some homework to do so we headed out to hit up a few pubs.

A quirky little wine bar right outside Windsor Castle

We grabbed a drink in the carpenters arms. Great pub just steps from Windsor castle. Could have spent the entire day there.

Though we had been to Windsor castle before, I had hoped to go in to see the final resting spot of Queen Elizabeth II. We will try and head back in a year or two and this time we will remember to book ahead.

There are some shops just across from the castle built around the old railway station.

Windsor is an absolutely gorgeous city. Great views on the water.

There is a condo in the building on the right for sale right now. Not as great a view on a higher floor with a smaller balcony. 1.5 Millon pounds. Guess that dream of living in the UK is right out the window.

Stopped at another pub in town for a beverage. Losing count at this point.

Seriously good beer from this local brewery.

This is right outside the castle and just before the long walk. Great pub with a lot of history. It was packed, but we got a table as long as we promised to go before the reservation came in.

Great views of the castle.

We went back to the pub to grab dinner before turning in early after a long day of travelling (and drinking).

Up next, the first of the main events. Diddly Squat Farm shop, the lovely Cotswalds and The Farmers Dog for dinner.
