Thank you, to close the loop I persisted with AA, escalated it to a manager, the penny eventually dropped and I preserved my original routing. It took about five interactions, it seems like AA has stripped a lot of authority from front-line agents.
The backtracking route across the US is interesting, I didn’t think they allowed that?
