the “premium” room classification is new in a sense that it is not mentioned on any Hyatt member facing information. The premium room appears to be priced at the same level as a “club” award where the property does not have a club.
my point is properties appear to be able to use a new award classification to get ”increased reimbursements slightly” (your words) and open up additional redemption opportunities for members. How common is this? So far one property I found. Could be more. At least the system is setup for it.
I haven't been as clear in my responses as I should have been. I'll try to do better.
From the very beginning I said the situation could be one of two things, they might be getting a higher reimbursement or Hyatt might be aware that there is no lounge and might not be giving them anything. If it's the former case then yes it's not cool for a property to do that...intentionally harming the guest and to a lesser extent, Hyatt. But it's also possible that they aren't getting a higher reimbursement since there is no lounge. As I said in my first reply, it would be interesting to know which is occurring.
I also misunderstood your OP as I had thought the room was being advertised as a club room in the details or something. But now upon re-reading I see you're just saying that the amount of points was equivalent to the club award. This is also interesting. But as long as base rooms are still available for the standard points whenever they're available for cash, then I'm OK.
