The reason is our toddler is attached to one parent as a family member. Spouse and I have individual accounts. Little one contributing to one of the parents account makes sense when it comes to bookings as usually its 1 parent + 1 infant when its upgrade using Avios. It would be difficult for us otherwise and Qatar typically only has 2 J seats (for awards) on our routes.
This is the only reason we have a family account in this context.
The second point is we have a BA household account, and any member with Avios can send Avios from QR to BA, where they get pooled. We move what we need to the BA household in order to book on BA / Partner airlines.
**edited to clarify what kind of J seats.
Same for us, my 4 year old is attached to my account and my wife has her own QR Privilege account (Platinum). The entire family flies quite often together and my daughter would easly qualify for QR Gold or maybe even Platinum. Gold or Platinum would be interesting for the QCredits and the Tier Bonus Miles. However I was once told my daughter is too young to hold an own account and need to be a family member. Can somone confirm the minium age for a QR Privilege Account to earn Status?
