I just flew my family from Spain to Australia on Qatar. I am member of the Qatar programme but my wife & children aren't. I had read that they would get the same avios awarded to their BA accounts so I used that for them. Unfortunately, they only got a fraction of the avios that I did. So, as they are not frequent flyers, the family programme on Qatar looks good. At least I should get their full points to use for upgrades when I fly.
