My answer is emphatically "yes", I see heaps of award availability. That said I'm DM, and primarily use miles for short-haul redemptions these days, J class intra-Asia. (I know many of you have scolded me this foolish choice of redemption, but it's just not practical for me to use them otherwise.) I'll usually log in and see if I can score biz seats on the sectors I want (most of my intra-Asia flights this year are Tokyo, Shanghai and SIN), usually 2 sectors round-trip. If neither or just one available I just book cash. Bookings are almost always within a week or less of travel date. I almost always see options available esp. if my time is flexible, either same day or the day before or after. My schedule sometimes isn't so flexible so I don't use miles as often as I might otherwise (maybe 1/4 or 1/5 of my regional trips?), but it's appreciated nevertheless.

I think whatever changes they've made, it's a significant incentive to go for GO or DM now.
