Hello...
I can't seem to find any thread about paying for the cost of the room with Hilton Gift Cards... Is this something many folks do? Or this is not the most cost-effective way to use gift cards?
If yes, are there any tips and tricks a newbie like me should know such as front desk resistance to accepting the gift cards and how to overcome it? How to book? What to watch out for, etc...
From the
https://buyhiltongiftcards.com/ webite, it's perfectly legitimate to pay for a room with gift cards at check out, it cannot be used to book or hold a room (5th checkmark under the "The Gift of Adventure" heading). Does it mean if I want to use gift cards, I can only book semi-flex & flex rates, which is typically $20 to $50 more expensive than the pre-paid rate? Any tips and tricks around this problem?
I couldn't find any thread in this forum about this topic and the only thing I found online were YouTube videos where they made it sound like paying for room cost with gift cards were something borderline shady...
Any experts who have done this before could chime in to CONFIRM or elaborate?
Thanks a bunch in advance.
TC
PS: I just applied for the Surpass Card and will go the route of buying $50 gift card per quarter.... I'm mostly an IHG guy but at a few places I need to stay (like Truckee, CA), there's NO IHG facilities. That's why I decided to join a Hilton loyalty program to hopefully save a few bucks. Thanks again for reading m post!
