We had originally planned on going to visit some museums for our second full day in the UK, but my travelling companions decided that instead we were going to go and visit the town of Wrexham in the north of Wales. My original plan had been that I would be dropped off at Duxford to visit the museum there, but driving to Wales became the plan for the day.

I will say the drive north was actually really nice. We had great weather the entire day and it was actually a really fun trip.

Sadly, no Ryan Reynolds or the other guy sightings but still a fun day.

However, the day started with breakfast in the hotel, and this time I even remembered to take a photo. Though not much to look at the taste was out of this world. Again, if you are looking for a hotel the Hilton in Reading is a safe bet.

My daughter had bought some cookies at Fortnum and Mason and for her assistance in taking pics during the trip for this report, I agreed to show her dog cookies. Truth be told I think they are really nice, though a bit too much icing for my taste.

We left the hotel around 830 in the morning and started making our way to the North. The drive was really nice.

First impressions, Wrexham is a beautiful city with a lot of beautiful people. Parking however, that needs some work.

We were starving when we got in to town and decided on lunch at the Fat Boar. We were very pleased with this choice. The food was outstanding.

I got to try a Wrexham lager. Very easy to drink and were I not driving out later I could have drank more than a few of these.

Beautiful mural painted on a building not too far from the Racecourse.

Mandatory visit to the Racecourse and the teams shop. We had tried to buy a jersey for my step dad a few years ago but they were always sold out. However in person it was no problem.

We ran into the announcer Mark Griffiths in the shop. Wrexham was playing that night in Birmingham and they were getting ready to head down for the game. We tried to get into the Turf for a drink but all the fans travelling to the away game were having a pre departure beverage. Would have been a long wait for a drink in that line. Still a ton of fun to see.

We ended up buying one gift and got my daughter a black jersey. Truth be told I wish I had bought a black one for myself. They are really nice.

We had already booked our hotel in Coventry for the night. So after we were done in Wrexham we started the two hour trip back to the south. Traffic was a bit heavier but we still made good time.

We had booked the Doubletree by Hilton in Coventry for the night. And well, now we get to the low point of the trip as far as accommodations go. While the one pub we stayed at in Windsor was definetly less impressive, this one just plain dissapointed. Noisy AC, dirty bathroom and just plan bad customer service.

Having said that, the bar was the nicest part of the hotel by a long shot and not wanting to drive anymore we decided on drinks and snacks. I went with the Camden Hells lager which was really tasty.

We did a little bit more research on our plans for the next few days and then called it a night up to the noisy room.

Up next, Windsor UK and some pub hoping.
