Detailed review of my stay in September 2024

What is your IHG One Rewards status?
Diamond Inner Circle Royal Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay
Yes, very pleasant property.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest rate (stay longer) rate and was upgraded to a King Suite

How are the rooms?
Around 37sqm large.

More a Junior Suite or even an Executive room than proper suite.

Seating area with convertible sofa.
Dining area with table and chairs

Very comfortable bed.

(but not a fan of the rough sheets)

Small bathroom with walk-in shower.
Antipodes toiletries.

Heated towel rail
No bathrobe

Flat screen television set (which curiously cannot rotate)
with very basic selection of international channels.

No Chromecast.

Nespresso coffee machine. Kettle.
Empty minibar. No bottled water.

USB power socket next to the bed.

View over district.

No Free PressReader

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?

GOOD
-Smiling staff
- Pleasant interior design.
- Brand new property
- Nice spa area with sauna, steam room and swimming pool.
- Very good breakfast (Especially the ā la carte dishes)

BAD
- The hotel is obviously still in the soft opening period: the service is generally good.
But on the last night, the room was not cleaned.
- At check-in, I was asked if I wanted breakfast as a Diamond amenity when my rate was breakfast included.
- At check-out, I pointed out that the welcome points had not been posted. In response, I was told that it was because the manager wasn't there at the weekend to post the points (my check-in was on a Wednesday...).
- More annoyingly, on the last day, there was no avocado toast due to a lack of avocados.
I asked if I could have fried eggs instead.
The answer was NO, on the grounds that it was off the menu, that special operations were required (taking a frying pan) and that the chef was under pressure at the moment (in fact the chef was scrolling through his mobile phone).

Value for $ or IHG One Rewards Club? Would you return?
The hotel is really pleasant to discover Stockholm or Uppsala and surprisingly very cheap.

Kungsträdgården is less than 20 minutes away on the T11 metro from Kista station, a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
Odenplan is 10 minutes from Helenelund station on line 40/41, an 8-minute walk from the hotel.

The lovely city of Uppsala is located 40 minutes from the hotel by line 40/41.

Situated north-west of central Stockholm, Kista is a 30-minute drive from Stockholm-Arlanda airport.
The name Kista comes from a farm that still exists. Kista has been dubbed Sweden's 'Silicon Valley' since the 1980s, when the electronics industry took hold on a massive scale.
This means that the area is quiet, green but basically with poor interest.

Still, it is a pity that there are no more centrally located and Kimpton/InterContinental properties is Scandinavia.
