EDIT: I am not sure I need a status match on AS... I believe for status match on AS, and keep it beyond 90 days, I need to fly actual miles on AS metal...so maybe better just to start anew on AS with credit to AS ff program for all future OW flights, and utilize AS credit card?
Another benefit of AS vs AA is the award chart. Many AS partners have 85k (Starlux) and 100k (SQ) J awards that you can build a stop in both ways if you do one-way awards vs 140k+ on AA. Darn that dynamic pricing. And yes AS is distance based earning.

I forgot to mention the great MH FC lounge in KL satellite and the cabanas at the FC Wing in HKG. Also QR FC in Doha. Worth it. Dining room service, better food.

Also,the massages at the FC Pier in HKG and Sakura FC at NRT.
