I am usually not very successful on upgrading on AA flights, about 5% overall. So upgrading on AA is not a huge benefit I expect to obtain staying as AA elite.

The more generous AA ticketing and other service benefits might be a worthwhile factor to consider. What specific benefits are the most appealing for an AA elite, that an AS elite might not have?
