Are you carrying valuable items with you during your work? Or you are a bearer of secrets? Then the risk might be indeed too high for you and your employer to let you go near to main station zones in any European city. Otherwise I suggest you to look for another job. If there are more such decisions made by that company I fear for its future. Not to mention such statements are bad for affected business owners and reputation damaging.
To all Flyertalkers here: There is no such thing like travel warning existing for any place in Germany. Police is present in that Frankfurt district, you can stay at any hotel there and walk around without fear as a tourist or business man/woman in those streets.
