Please ask Amex customer service
Hi
Amex has a telephone line & in-app chat that you can always send your questions to, but based on what I have heard on Youtube and seen/read on other channels, - it appears that once you accept the booster + the 10/0/50K bonus points offer, you really have to keep the Amex card for one year. If you cancel earlier, you most likely will lose the bonus points and the booster might never return/or even be offered again (according to some sources). If bonus points were credited to your account they are going to be debited and you might be forced to reload your account. It you take the regular option - without booster - then I think there are going to be less issues/problems with an early pre-termination of your card. It's unclear how we have to pay the annual fee. On the switch offer it's menionted for Plat EUR65/Godl EUR20/Green EUR15.50 a month, and on other pages of the Amex Be website, it is mentioned that this sum must be paid in full before the card will be activated There is no annual spend requirement for all Amex cards, but if you accept bonus points, there is indeed a requirement to spend the indicated amounts within 3 months, otherwise you won't qualify for & likely get the extra bonus points.
The upcoming M&M Mastercard is not a "charge" card like Amex green/gold/plat, it is indeed a "credit opening"/"credit line" - a true credit card. Most likely, you will need to visit a Beobank branch and sign a loan/credit agreement. That is indeed already "quite a hassle" for me and Beobank will earn credit interest if you don't pay back the entire outstanding amount in your next billing cycle/statement. I believe you're not forced to open a bank account with Beobank tough.
Lastly 2Q-3Q 2025 next year, - and before you cancel - it might be worthwile to see if you could qualify for a "retention" offer from Amex. I see many videos on Youtobe - please do a search " Amex Retention Offer"and apparantly, retention offers are being awarded to customers who want to leave Amex (but in the end chose to stay with Amex), and sometimes these are given even to people who have had a minimal spending history with Amex. Officially - it is said that you can only receive bonus points only once in your lifetime - but on youtube, and in the Dutch insdeflyer forum, I see many people getting these 'retention offers". Remember, Amex has the financial capacity to "reward you" if you stay with them after indicating you want to leave, and I see many cases of people who never had any intention to leave Amex getting a retention offers based on these "simulated" situations. ( = milking Amex)
In the previous I saw somebody "lamenting" that in the past you could call the Brussels office directly, and that the entire customer service has now been moved offshore (perhaps, and most likely India Or Philippines) - and while I do prefer to speak in Dutch (my native language), I master English enough to conclude these agreements on my own, and apparantly once you agree to such an offer, it's legally binding, and business is being done and concluded in the app, - and that's the modern way of doing business. It's very unlikely Beobank's card will ever give you any retention offer, - at least, - with American express, - there's "hope" that you might qualify for those offers. For Amex, I give it a 20pct change that you might qualify-- for Beobank - the chances of getting a "retention" offer are going to be pretty slim, I've never seen retention offers with my previous Airplus M&M card.
