Mercure Lisboa Hotel

Name of the hotel: Mercure Lisboa Hotel

- What is your ALL status? Diamond

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes. It’s not the best Mercure in the world in the sense that some renovation will be needed sometimes, but it still makes the job well. This hotel is packed every day by groups of American tourists staying one night only and going on cruises. I stayed 4 nights and it was fully booked every day.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive ?

I booked a Privilege room and got that (no upper room category)

- How are the rooms?

Privilege rooms are on a dedicated floor. Rooms are relatively large. Lot of place for storage. The hotel is located just below the flight path for landing in LIS, so planes are passing very low above. Perfect for plane spotting . I haven’t been disturbed by plane noise, but a colleague who was staying in a room facing the other side of the building told me she was disturbed in the morning by this.

The window was small, so the room was quite dark even during the day. This would me my main criticism of this hotel. Bed was comfortable.

Privilege amenities included bathrobe, slippers, espresso machine, free minibar (soft drink).

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
  • Large rooms
  • good breakfast buffet
  • nice staff
  • pleasant swimming pool on rooftop. The weather was splendid in LIS, and I enjoyed the pool each end of afternooin after work.
Bad:
  • not so cheap for a Mercure in Portugal (I payed about 210€/night).
  • Dark rooms
  • noise from plane in some rooms apparently (see above)
  • location : definitely not a location convenient for visiting Lisbon as far from every tourist spot and any metro station (but Uber & taxis are very cheap in Lisbon), but I was there for business and the location was convenient for me. Surprisingly, there are a lot of large hotels in the same street and in the area. For Accor, in the same street, you have a Novotel and an Ibis (red).
- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? No lounge

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks :

Welcome drink (electronic voucher in the App) is valid for soft drinks, house wine or beer.

Welcome amenity in room was some local cakes + red fruits.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?

Yes for business, likely not for tourism but the rooftop pool is definitely a great asset of this hotel.
