As has been mentioned before, most travelers that do any amount of int'l travel (and probably many that don't) already have a credit card that has 0% forex fees. So that leaves what to do about cash purchases. This is going to vary greatly by destination as to how much "cash is king" vs almost everything being "tap and pay." For a great many situations, cash is either not needed at all, or very little is needed. This being the case, my opinion is to not fixate on the forex costs. For example, if your regular bank ATM card charges 3% for foreign withdrawals, and you take out the equivalent of US$500 for spending money, that's a $15 fee. Is it worth it to go to the trouble to find an appropriate product, open an account, wait to get the card, fund it, etc., to save $15? You'll get a much better ROI on your time by giving careful consideration to what hotel you say at.
