F cabin lighting [cabin light remaining on]

Hi all,

Recently had several overnight US-LHR flights and had some weird experiences re lighting. Totally first world problem, but wanted to see if anyone else had the same experience.

As it’s an overnight flight, most of the passengers in F had a drink and went to bed. No one ate.

Crew turned off the overhead lights but left the blue light (above the middle seats in row 1) on. That light was rather bright and when I asked if they could turn it off, I was told there wasn’t a specific control for that light. There’s a line of blue light above the overhead compartment which is apparently connected to it. On other longer flights - to HKG/NRT, I remember they turned off all the lights in the cabin. The crew I spoke to said it’s how they’ve always done it and left it on for US-UK flights.

I find it too bright, and difficult to fall asleep even with the eye-mask on. anyone have that issue as well?
