You then call up the Book with Matrix site, copy this page into it, select "Book with American" and aa.com will pop up with your desired flights there ready to add the passenger's name.
I used matrix.itasoftware.com and found an useable routing. Thank you for that tip.
When I click the button "Copy itinerary as JSON" and paste it into bookwithmatrix I get an error saying "The pasted itinerary does not seem to be a valid ITA Matrix itinerary." I tried several browsers.
I also tried Multi-city search on Google Flights as JJeffrey said, but it doesn't come up.
I guess I will try and call AA to book.
EDIT: I managed to create the itinerary with Google Flights multi-city, but when I click "Book with American" the AA homepage gives me an error message "We are sorry for the inconvenience, we encountered an error processing your request.
System Error. Please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your Travel Support Desk. (4000 - 0)"
EDIT2: I managed to use multi-city search on AA directly and it gives me a fare, but the price is higher than with the short connection (244,000 Yen compared to 261,000 Yen). I guess I will proceed with booking this.
