I was underwhelmed by my first TK business experience on the 787 and A330. But the thing that really ground my gears was putting the lights on full bright after departure on a 4 hour eastbound flight departing IST at 0145am to serve a full meal. Why?
I’d say the majority of the cabin were asleep, until they were woken by the lights and told they can eat now or not at all. I opted for not at all but was still kept up by the clattering of cutlery on china and the footsteps of crew going backwards and forwards. And yes I was wearing an eye mask and ear plugs.
If airlines want to reduce waste, why not adopt dine on demand in J like QR? It’s not a difficult or overly complicated concept and probably spreads crew workload evenly across a flight.
