After lengthy reading and searching for reviews, I finally chose the Westin Atlanta Perimeter and very glad I did! I swayed all over the place in the immediate area with the choices of the Sheraton, Marriott and Le Meridien and ended up cancelling them all even though the prices were cheaper with some extra promotions too.
Very friendly greetings at the Westin as you arrive. The hotel was fully booked during our time when I asked at the front desk if there were any upgrades available (I did not expect anything) The clerk mentioned we were on the 5th floor and I asked if there was a possibility of at least getting a high floor room. He took a minute and said I have put you on the 17th floor in a Junior Suite! Nice. He was a super nice guy and very welcoming. The room was perfect with a decent view. Everything was very clean and it looks like they maintain most things to the best of their abilities without a full remodel happening. We were happy and no complaints.
The only let down as a Plat is they only allow "continental" breakfast with an albeit minimal $9.00 upcharge for hot items. We are not super big breakfast eaters so the first morning just did the continental and ended up doing the same the second morning as it was fine for what we needed. The few hot items were just simple eggs & bacon etc., nothing special. The only restaurant / lounge is on the bottom floor that has full length glass looking out to the patio and man made lake which is very relaxing. There is nothing within walking distance but a quick Uber ride just over to the mall area has many other restaurants. We did use their shuttle service one day to take us to the mall but when we called back for a pick-up they said they had no one available. No biggie.
Their were three weddings happening while we were their, hence why they were so busy. One of them was an Indian wedding that was happening down the hall from the restaurant. It is a weird set up as the only washrooms for use from the restaurant were the ones that stretch into their banquet area. We had to pretty much walk right through the wedding party when we needed to use the washroom. LOL. It sure smelt good with lots of music and fun!
Very glad we chose this hotel in comparison to some of the horrible reviews of the other Bonvoy full service properties.
