Noob question involving BA Avios ticket on AA Metal:
I booked a MIA-GRU for late October using BA Avois on a AA flight, in premium economy. There was no business class availability showing.
Now here is the AA availability on redemption miles showing for my flight. Unfortunately this business class availability on their site, is not showing to the partners like BA.
My question is - is there any way for me to upgrade my ticket? Either through Avios, or if there is an upgrade bids/last minute deals, or AA upgrade vouchers that I can beg/borrow/steal..
There is no way to upgrade an avios award on AA with more avios, AA miles, or any kind of upgrade voucher.
You can try pulling up your reservation at aa.com and see if on the off chance a cash upgrade option is listed, however this is unlikely (to impossible) since BA issued the ticket.
In order for BA or other partners to show business award space on AA flights you need the old sAAver space (U) to be available.
Your best (only) bet is to just keep checking back to see if AA has opened up U space on the flight, if that happens then contact BA and change your existing PE award to a business award. It depends on the flight, but I have frequently seen AA release last minute U space on long haul international flights this year, within a few days of the flight.
