Hilton diamond currently in a 7N stay here - we booked the deluxe overwater villa and were upgraded to an OWV with pool upon arrival.

The grounds are beautiful - as you’d expect. Hyper clear water with excellent snorkeling around the complex and directly from the villas.

I’m curious to hear the forum’s feedback on this: on day two there started to be serious construction next door. They brought a legit bulldozer to the villa next door and had 6-8 construction workers working. We booked the OWV for serenity and obviously that detracted. We asked how long it would continue and were told that was the only day and offered a $275 credit, which made me feel understood and I appreciated it.

Then - the next day, two villas down from us had the same thing almost all day. Today, it’s right back next to us. One issue beyond staff control is that’s it’s been a bit rainy so we can’t always just up and move to the beach or pool area, but we could have specifically booked excursions around it.

I understand these villas require lots of maintenance, but I think the most frustrating thing has been no communication upfront whatsoever. Compounded with the $2,300+ room rate and I’m starting to feel more frustrated by the experience than I would have had we just stayed in Moorea or Tahiti instead of coming over.

needless to say - it’s been anything but peaceful with 3/5 days having very loud construction noises while we wanted to enjoy the villa.

For context - I stay around 75-80 nights per year, mostly with hyatt but am diamond with Hilton. Most stays are business, but about 20 are vacation. I’ve only requested refunds or compensation from 1 hotel in my lifetime years ago (serious cigarette smoke in all the rooms) so I’m not looking for things to complain about. But this has me feeling like I have to let the board know for sure so you can confirm you’ll be away from the construction and to be aware you may have to prompt the staff.
