Because AS generates one even if there aren't AS segments on the ticket (case in point, AS partner awards with zero AS metal flown segments, which I've booked many times and gotten many AS PNRs from, which are useless on partner websites of course). PNRs don't relate to marketing carrier. The PNR lets Alaska SABRE look up the record.
