I am/was in a similar position, will usually get 3k TP's but only once 5K. I did book a BA holiday to make sure i got over which i ended up not needing to reach 5K
  • The CCR is a much nicer place to wait for your plane than GF, Much quieter.
  • I have had a a few Upgrades since becoming GGL, with extremely few before that. (Could be a coincidence)
  • Jokers was very useful for a family holiday in F to LAX at Easter.
  • and as others have mentioned not waiting for ages to speak on the phone is also very nice.
I typically just let my status be whatever it will be, but if its a one off push and then 3K will come easily I would go for it.
