As others have mentioned, there are existing threads which describe and assess the benefits (CCR access, GGL line, gifting status etc). What is not clear from your OP is what you would need to do to get there that you might prefer not to. I mean if it is a case of just taking a flight instead of a train once then definitely I would go for it. If it's about replacing 10 Eurostars or London-Manchester where and city centres are more convenient to you then I definitely wouldn't.
