It just ignores them.
I couldn't find another post about this, so apologies if it is answered already elsewhere.
TAROM today

Checkin - no SAS listed under the FFPs (!)
MMB - SAS is listed, but the only working format was EBBxxxxx which automagically changed to EBGxxxxx

After that check in correctly identified the number and status.
