The Renaissance, where they stayed in Sao Paulo, is a wonderful hotel located in a very good area of Sao Paulo.. I have stayed there many times over the years.
Their room rates have increased a lot for some unknown reason but I still like the hotel.
Even though the hotel rates have increased,. the exchange rate for the dollar has also increased in our favor to around five and one-half of Brazilian money to one dollar of American money. This favorable exchange rate helps offset the unexplained high rates at the hotel.
If you are going to be in Sao Paulo for several days, you might want to walk over to the MASP, the famous art museum in Sao Paulo. It is an excellent museum. It is about five blocks from the hotel. You walk out of the hotel and go one block to Avenida Paulista then turn right on Paulista and walk just a few blocks. You will see the museum from a distance because it is elevated and has an odd redish color which can be seen for a few blocks. Even the late Queen Elizabeth of England visited this museum.
There are many things to see in Sao Paulo. Restaurants are fine. One of my favorites is Familia Mancini. However, you would need an Uber to get there from the hotel.
Enjoy my home away from home.
Here is a link to MASP and a short bit of history about the museum.
